Stubborn Trash on Mac External hard drive

Hi all

I've tried pretty much all the remove trash programs on the market, or at least I think I have :Blushing:

When i plug in my external hard drive trash appears in the bin, on trying to remove it, I get the 'error code 36' ' the file cannot be read or written'

Anyone any ideas on how to get rid of this?

I've tried the holding down the 'ALT' key

Also CMD + A / CMD I

Tried it and it doesn't shift it!!

Copy whatever data you need from the external hard drive first, and then erase the drive and reformat it. Brute force way of getting rid of whatever that pesky file is....

Great idea but it's a 1tb external with a lot on it - it would mean buying another to move everything across, not to mention the time it would take!!

There has to be some way of shifting it?

I did defrag the external hard drive whilst in the windows 7 partition for a while and went back on the mac and a couple of bits did get wiped.

Pity there's no way of defragging the hard drive whilst on the mac partition.

Drive genuis won't do it - only mac operating systems.
