safari shuts down when using google search

Hello Astro here, I'm a PC certified tech, trying to help a friend with an Imac G5. Its running Panther 10.3.9, and safari 1.3.2. the problem started when the recent upgrade of frontiers e-mail with Yahoo mail. the safari browser tells me it needs to be upgraded to be able to use it with the new e-mail. I tried to go to the apple and do a software update. It tells me that its all up to date. I also went o the system/software update and it tells me that its up to date. I tried to download safari for lion and it wouldnt install, said it couldnt find the package material list or simular to that. Probally not copatible with this OS. It also has a seperate symtom. When using the google search text entry box in the upper right of the browser. Safari quits and wants to send information to apple, I did. I did some reasearch on your site and did some repairs with no response,they include. repairing disk permissions and resetting the cache and resetting safari under Safari. I hope that you all appreciate the extra effort hat I put forth to help myself, and please don't hold it against me that I'm a PC tech. LOL. My thoughts is that there is a later version of safari that will work with panther. I really appreciate your site and any help that you can extend my way Thanks again
