Hi guys,
I'm sat here with my Mac Mini Aluminium which has the spec to run the Lion OS but reading through the layers of info provided by Mac and after watching the video I'm not so sure that running Lion is for me.
Why do I feel like this?
It just seems to me that Lion is aimed at Mac laptop users. I ain't trying to put a downer on the OS. It's just that half or more of the hype seems to be on the gestures that can be used to scroll across a page, make pictures bigger etc but there is nowhere on my keyboard to do such fancy stuff.

So, as the title says, am I right in thinking that Lion is aimed more at laptop users than desktop users?

Apple is shifting to a notebook strategy - that's not really a secret. I don't know the exact figures but Apple sells significantly more notebooks than it does desktops. In fact, the whole PC market has shifted that way. So, don't be all that surprised that Apple seems to be giving preferential treatment to notebooks.

As for your situation, SL is probably just fine for you now but at some point, you'll want to look into upgrading (if only to provide some "future proofing").

Not in my opinion, Lion runs fast and smooth on a Mac Pro. In fact if one were to go back through the Lion problem posts, the great majority seem to be with MB and MBP where Lion was upgraded from Snow Leopard and the clean install option is recommended.

It's not really "laptop specific" but if you have the Magic Trackpad it has awesome gestures with Lion.

I can't tell you how many clients and friends have "switched" to the Magic Trackpad and LOVE IT.

I'm too cheap to buy one for my older Blackbook since it's getting replaced before Mountain Lion comes out and the new will have a MT built-in, but let me just say that a lot of the people singing the praises of the MT are seniors, newbies and others who I would have thought would have a lot of difficulty adjusting from the mouse. Most of them have put the mouse in the drawer and use the MT exclusively (!!).

I'm not sure I could due to my work in certain programs like Photoshop but still it's kind of amazing to me how one bit of hardware has made such a difference to so many different types of users.

I'm not sure I could work with a mouse in Photoshop, for that matter. FWIW the new mouse supports gestures, and those seem to work pretty well as well.
