Hi All!

I am new here...and recently got a MacBook Air.

My problem is I am unable to to see lots of data/folders on my external HDD when I plug it in to my MacBook, some folders are able to been seen and data easily transfered. Normally on a PC I would just type the address in explorer and find the folder containing the data.

Anybody got any solutions?

Thanks for any help or advice you may provide.

If you're able to "see" some folders and not others, it's possible the folders and files that you can't see are hidden by the system. Where did the files and folders originate from? In other words, were they copied from a PC?

Hi!

Yep, The files were copied from a PC to the external HDD.

I agree that they might be hidden but I am unable to find a way to make them visible on Mac OS X 10.7.

OK. Try this small application which can turn off and on the hidden attributes in OS X: It's called "Funter" and can be downloaded from here. It's free.

It's not a good idea to leave "show hidden files" on as it will mess up your desktop and the Finder with hidden files. Just use it temporarily to show the hidden files on the external drive. Once you find them, you may be able to reset the attributes.

Thank you so much!

It is a great little application. Worked just how I needed.

Cheers!
