I know very little about host files and perhaps I shouldn't have tried editing one for my iphone/gsm.apple.com

My question is this:

When I "get info" for the "hosts" folder I notice at the bottom the following which doesn't seem right??

Under "sharing and permissions"
I see
system=>read/write
wheel=> read only
everyone=> read only

I have no idea what wheel and everyone refers to? Am i open to some attack etc?

A bit panicy at this stage :Oops:

Thanks a bunch

that is correct

-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 236 Jun 22 2009 /private/etc/hosts

the file is owned by root and a member of the group wheel.
