Hello everyone,
First here are my specs:
I mac 5,2 (Education Edition I believe)
Core 2 Duo 1.83 GHZ, 2GB Ram
Lion installed.
I bought my imac used and installed lion over snow leopard. I've recently decided to do a fresh wipe and install of lion. I have managed to make my own usb key from the installesd.dmg on a usb stick, but I cannot make my mac look at it at boot. At boot I will see a folder with a question mark on it briefly and then it just boots off the hard drive like normal.
I have told the startup disk to boot off of the usb drive but no luck.
Another wrinkle is that I am using the wireless keyboard and magic mouse VIA a blutooth usb device plugged in the back. This model mac does not have blutooth installed.
I know that the keyboard and mouse are not being recognized at the apple screen. I have attempted to remedy this by plugging in a wired pc keyboard and seeing if I can hold option (windows key) to bring up the boot picker. Oddly it seems that the mac does not shake hands with the wired pc keyboard soon enough either. Caps lock and num lock keys will not toggle until I reach the os. Any ideas? Thank you.
