Gmail and iCloud

Hi everyone. I have a bit of a problem. My mom has been having issues with getting her iCal to work. Every time that I click into iCal, it asks me for her Gmail password, which I know that I'm entering correctly but it kicks it back as incorrect. I can't, for the life of me, get it to work and I'm a little frustrated. Can anyone help me figure out how to get this so it'll work with iCloud and sync on the Mac, as well as the iPad? I hope this makes sense. Thank you in advance!

P.S. I'm running Lion, 10.7.2. All updates are installed and I can't do anything else update-wise.

Thanks for fixing iCal. Still fighting Address Book syncing.

Thanks ferrai_jd and ifan. I have been fighting the same problem in not having my iPhone calendar sync with iCal on my MBP. I tried everything I could think of and they were not in sync. I unselected all the calendars "on my iPhone" and selected them on my "xxx.me.com" (iCloud). And they are now in sync.

Why do we have both sets of calendars? Can I delete the ones that are "on my iPhone"? Wish that Apple would send out some better instructions as to how to set up syncing of contacts and calendar. Very confusing, and I consider myself an experienced computer user!

But, I'm still having trouble getting my Contacts and Groups to sync between the iPhone and MBP. My Address Book on the MBP has two complete sets of contacts and groups, one, "On My Mac" and the other, "iCloud". "All Contacts" has duplicate entries, one from "On My Mac" and one from "iCloud". Can I delete the contacts and groups in the "On My Mac" and just use the ones under "iCloud". I'm a little afraid to delete them as I have a lot of contacts and groups set up. Mail seems to be using "On My Mac" for sending mail, and not the contacts under "iCloud". Any suggestions here??

I just turned off the OnMyMac stuff So it would not display and went all iCloud. Except in Mail on the iMac where I move selected iCloud mails to OnMyMac for local archiving.

ICal

I've read the instructions on syncing Icloud and Ical and done what was instructed but what I'm finding is that when I post something in ical it does not transfer to icloud or my iphone. Icloud is not picking up my ical appts.
any advice?

Thanks!

Ferrari ...

I just went through the whole process of registering for this forum and activating it via validation email, just to thank you for your post.

Me too! Lion not syncing to iCloud was driving me nuts!

THANK YOU FERRARI!

I have tried everything on line and on here to solve this. Although my MBA syncs fine with my iphone4, it won't sync the other way. Its doing my head in as I always put my appointments straight onto my phone when I'm out so it is quite a problem. Put it on the MBA and it goes straight onto my phone. Can anyone think of what I might have done wrong please?

I have just edited an event on my phone and icloud has just changed it back????????????????

Also on the phone you can put a location for the event, is there an equivalent in ical?

I have a question that is somewhat related to this thread. Now that I have icloud on my iphone 4 and MacBook (with duplicate calendars everywhere at the moment), I'm just wondering - do I have to now add events and dates etc into only the icloud calendar on these devices in order for them to be synced, or can I add to my iphone calendar and my ical calendar, and still have the benefit of icloud backing up and syncing? I don't want to reply purely on icloud for my calendars, as I am then relying on an outside server with a maximal storage capacity.

My ical won't sync with iCloud either

I have an iCloud account, am running Lion OS X 10.7.2, and have an iPad and an iPhone as well as a MacBook Pro. All the calendars, except iCal on the MacBook, are syncing fine. And iCal was okay until just a day or two ago - not sure exactly when it stopped working.

Anyway, I have followed all the suggestions here, have quit and restarted both iCal and the whole MacBook, and still iCal is not picking up any changes or additions that I make on the other devices, but they are all syncing properly.

I have unchecked all the calendars in iCal, rechecked them, done an overall sync with the Macbook. I have the iCloud/caldev account set up for iCal, and I have double-checked the account settings. What can I possibly do? I am at my wit's end.

I've decided to wait on MobileMe > iCloud until this thread quits getting hit several times daily with issues. It shouldn't be that difficult. ;)

i really don't know where/how to direct you other than a picture..
i had most of my calendars going across all devices.. except a few..

turns out the ones working were all the calendars i put in my wife and I's iPhone (after the 5.0 update), the ones i put on the mac (on snow leopard before iCloud) were not pushing out to the phones..

i can't remember if i redid the calendar on the iMac under the setting of iCloud in the image i uploaded... or maybe i clicked and dragged it to the iCloud category.. but that was a source of trouble for me..

good luck

iCloud synch only works one way.

I have read the whole of the thread and have managed to get my iCal entries on my MBP to appear on my iPhone instantly but they are not going the other way. My test entry on my phone iCal has not appeared on the MBP. If it works one way, why not the other?

Hi Demapples and thanks for replying. iCloud is listed in the system preferences on my MBP. Is this what you mean?
Just tested again. Test from MBP shows up straight away on iPhone's iCal. Test from iPhone does not show up on MBP unless I synch with the cable.

I have multiple calendars on my MBP, and I have iCloud enabled, but the calendars on my computer do not show up on the web.
Any suggestions?

Are the calendars you see on the MBP listed under your iCloud account in iCal, or OnMyMac?

ical calendar issues

After looking through forums for about a day .... and finding no good answer, I tested my iCal calendar event once more to see if it appears on my iPad. No good. Then I right clicked the event and noticed it was appearing in the 'on my mac' list of calendars and not 'on the cloud' list of calendars. After changing my iCal preferences in iCal on the MBP any event I create now on iCal immediately shows up on the iPad.

I experienced something similar with keeping contacts in synch - there are two sets of contacts on a Mac: 'On this Mac' and 'On the cloud' . This was a very similar issue.

Just check preferences on the Mac in iCal and make sure all your default settings are pointing to the cloud. I had to change each event I wanted on iCal, but it works finally - all devices for contacts and calendars are now all synching fine now.

Password issues

I had the same problem.

I then remembered I had changed my password to my apple account.

I deleted and added iCloud account on ical.

Then turned off iCloud in apple preferences and turned it back on.

Now it works again.

I found the solution!!

I had been going through this for days, and couldn't fix it using ANY of the options posted EVERYWHERE...

I FINALLY FOUND IT!!!

And it's pretty dumb, I have to say.

Here it goes:

I have my language set up in Spanish, so words may vary, but there's an option under the View menu (or Visualization, not sure how it shows in English) that says something like: "Show all-day events".

For some reason, that got unchecked with the update.

It was so simple I actually overlooked it.

Happens to anyone (that's my comfort haha)

There you go! If it's your case, enjoy!
