Hello mac geniuses! i have an ibook g4 with the above operating system. im basically looking for a free cleaning software as there is so much crap on my laptop and its soooo slowwwwwwwww!! iv seen loads of recent cleaning programs for newer operating systems but all the ones iv found only allow a limited amount of cleaning before you have to purchase it.

So can anybody advise me on a good one please? thanks in advance guys and girls

Personally, do not recommend any of the so-called cleaning apps that perform functions similar to those you may be use to in that other OS realm.

Grab Onyx for Tiger.

Then head into your Downloads, Documents, Pictures, etc. folders and delete the junk you don't want any longer. Keep deleting until you're up to 15% free space minimum.

And don't start deleting until you have a current back up.

Sorry what exactly does OnyX do?
I have a PowerBook G4 running 10.4.11 and want to do a restore to erase everything to make it like new but don't have the OS X disc. Will OnyX do a complete clean of the hdd?(That is without taking off the OS)

No. Onyx is used for maintenance tasks.

If you want to make it like new without an OS X disc, simply create a new account. Once you've logged into the new account, delete any other accounts on the machine. Viola, as good as new.
