I seem to be missing a Junk mailbox and an Outgoing mailbox.

What gives? :D

Thanks!

Which mail application are you using? If it's Apple Mail, there is no outgoing or junk mailbox. You can create them if you wish by clicking on "Mailbox" from the top menu and selecting "New Mailbox".

I'm using Mail 4.4.

I'm no expert, but I have a suspicion that there is a difference between creating an additional mailbox and creating one of the program mailboxes, like Inbox, Sent, Outgoing, Trash.

Perhaps . . . ?

Perhaps what? Can you see that Trash icon in Mail?

The junk mail inbox only appears when you enable junk mail.

Clicked "Move it to the Junk mailbox" in Mail Preferences.

All is good now. I have a Junk mailbox.

I gather that the junk has been arriving, but it was staying in my Inbox.

Thanks to all!
