Still doing the xtion thing from Windows to Mac.
I have partitioned my single drive into two partitions and have called the 2nd one, DataDrive. I want to keep my personal data on that drive such as Music, Downloads, Documents and Pictures. In fact that is the extent of what I want to keep on there.
I noticed in the default setup of Mac OS 10.6 that there are folders call Music, Pictures, Downloads within my Home directory "Macmarc". I went ahead and followed the Missing Manual procedure for moving my home directory using the ditto command to DataDrive and interesting, my settings, fonts, and Library folder all moved over but not the folders Music, Pictures, etc. I thought that was interesting and could not understand why those folders in particular were not copied.
Anyway, I do not need my home directory moved but I also do not know how the OS uses the Music, Downloads, and Pictures folders. Can I just recreate the folder names on my other partition?
Any enlightenment would be great. I just want data on my 2nd partition and not necessary my OS preference settings. I am happy to just image my boot partition periodically.
Thanks,
M
