Login screen for filevault accounts

Hi,

I have recently enabled filevault in OS 10.6.6. It seems to have turned on correctly because I now have the option to turn it off in system prefs and my home folder is now a filevault icon.

I used filevault in the past, about one or two years ago. My recollection from that time was that the login screen for the filevault-protected-account gave some indication that it was a filevault account (perhaps a filevault icon on the login screen????). However, my current login screen gives no idication the account is a filevault protected account.

My recollection could be wrong, or apple could have changed the login screen for filevault protected accounts (since I last used it). So my question is - is it normal for the login screen of a filevault account to not indicate the fact that it is a filevault account?

I'd highly recommend turning off FileVault. It's buggy and generally causes more headaches than it's worth. Do a search in Google or even here on the forum to see the horror stories.

Thanks for the warning. I'm aware that many have had issues. Personally, I've never had any issues apart from the filevaut + time-machine inconvenience. I need filevault for work.

The login screen does not indicate FileVault since there can be several accounts on the computer and not all may be FileVault accounts.

Upon logout/shutdown you will see a FileVault icon associated with your profile picture.

When you select one of the accounts listed on the login screen, the screen changes and promts you for the password for that account. My recollection was that this password-prompt login screen gave some indication as to whether the account was filevault protected or not. Please tell me whether or not that's the case.
