Installing OS using usb keyboard and USB drive
    Hi,

I have got a Mac pc from a friend which once had two OS installed. Windows and Mac OS 10. System was set to boot Windows by default.

Now by mistake my friend deleted Windows os files after booting in Mac os. So the system is not able to boot giving windows error.

What more has happened is that DVD drive and keyboard has stopped functioning.

I have usb keyboard (windows) and usb drive. Please suggest how can i fix my MAC PC ( by either installing Mac OS or setting the existing OS as default OS).

Any help / suggestion will be useful.
    Thanking in advance.

    regards

First .... you need to ask your friend for the original install disks for your type of Mac.
( or buy a new set of OS X install disks )
Second you will need to get that DVD drive fixed or ( Temporarily ) get an external DVD drive.

There is a way to connect two Mac's using firewire and use the DVD drive from the other Mac, but I am not a specialist on that.

    Cheers ... McBie

I've not tried this with a Windows keyboard, but the OPTION key doubles as the ALT key on a Mac keyboard. So… when booting the computer, hold down the ALT key. You should get a list of bootable volumes on the computer. If so, select the OS X volume.

Once booted into OS X, go to System Preferences > Startup Disk. Click the lock at the bottom to authorize, then select the default you want to boot from, then hit Restart.
