I recently securely emptied the trash. Since then when I select 'Move to Trash' I get a message asking if I want to permanently delete the item. How do I get back to being able to move items to trash?

Don't quite understand your situation ....

Are you saying that you can't move items to the trash or are you saying you get a message when you move items to the trash ?

Cheers ... Mcbie

Are these files on a network drive? They are always deleted immediately.

What apps/scripts have you installed? There are a few out there that change the way delete functions and causes an immediate delete instead of moving to the trash.

You can try a permissions repair - suggest rebooting after.

If that doesn't work, you'll probably need to delete and recreate the trash can.
