How long is the average time to upgrade OSX? I'm upgrading my HP notebook from Vista to Windows 7, it's hitting 2+hrs. I'm thinking Apple can do better with their OSX upgrade.

About fifteen to twenty minutes to download a combo updater, depending on your internet speed, this is based on the best here in rural Australia 1500MP/s, and a five minute install time or so.

Have a Dell Latitude notebook running XP Pro and this week's updates, thirteen in total, took about fifty minutes and for some reason twenty minutes to update Microsoft Security Essentials. Sure is frustrating I agree.

It depends on the type of upgrade you're doing. If upgrading from OS 10.5 to 10.6...that will take longer than an update from 10.6.3 to 10.6.4.

No, not an update, an upgrade like from Leopard or older version to Snow Leopard.

I'm hitting 3hrs from Vista to Windows...This is crazy. The only redeeming part is I'm using my Mac while the HP is upgrading :p

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
Less than an hour on average, unless you do a clean install, which is what I prefer!

For me...upgrading from 10.4 to 10.5 was about 1.5 to 2.0 hours. Upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6 was about an hour...maybe a little more.

Maybe the computer hardware has some impact as well on the install time (faster processor, faster optical drive, and a faster hard drive).

Thanks. Can't go to sleep cause I didn't think it would take this long. Now at 3+ hrs! :'(
