Power book G4 3 years old and still going strong
my friends mac book pro will not get past blank blue screen with window pop up saying " your startup disk is full" once this is clicked okay, screen goes blank again and stays blank - can anyone help, please.

Read elsewhere (on Apple wesite) that mac book pro 15" can stop responding during start up or operation and to Download and install the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.9 to resolve this issue - How can you do this if you can't get past the blank blue screen

That article you cited does not apply to your situation at hand.

Here's what you'll need to do.

If the Start Up disk is full, you'll have to do a Target Disk Mode by connecting the MacBook Pro to another Mac.
