Couple problems after Snow Leopard upgrade
For the first problem, sometimes when using a Firefox add-on to download .flv files or when viewing .flv files with an .flv player, my primary display just goes black. If I have a secondary display hooked up, it still works. The whole system is still functioning, but the primary display just goes black.

Second, occasionally when viewing an .mp4 file, it seems like all sounds are disabled. From the laptop speakers, or headphones/auxiliary speakers. I have to close QuickTime for sounds to start working again.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    1. Yep, when you watch a video full screen, it is going to black out the other monitor. You can use a full screen sized window and not black out the other screen. Am using a Win7 HTPC now, so it's been awhile since I hooked my Mac up to a 2nd screen. For sure playing flash video does this. Didn't test all video formats. This has been the case at least since Tiger when I got my first Mac.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.

For number 2 .... have a look at this, it references sound problems after the 10.6.2 update .... maybe it helps you in the right direction

A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any invention in human history - with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila.

Sorry I didn't go further into detail about the first problem. This is not when the other display goes black when a movie is in full-screen mode. I'm saying that my primary display just goes black and the only way I know to get the screen working again is to put the computer to sleep and bringing it out of sleep mode, or to force-restart the computer.
