Hey all,

I seem to be having a very weird issue with Disk Utility. Basically, it freezes whilst trying to gather the info from my disks and I need to force quit it.

When I do that, my Super Drive stops working (although, my SATA blu-ray drive works fine).

A restart fixes the Super Drive but no matter what Disk Utility won't run. Its beginning to pose a problem when it comes to erasing a couple of USB sticks etc...

I have formatted the drives and started again with a fresh install of SL and still problem persists. Disk Utility does work fine booting from the SL DVD though which is really confusing me...

Any suggestions???

Using Disk Utility "on the fly' rather than from disc often doesn't work because there are only certain tasks it can manage.
However, it should be able to format discs and USB drives no problem.
I assume you have run utilities from the install disc and verified permissions?
This could well just be another SL glitch.

Why the heck didn't I think of that...

I ran a repair on the array and also verified the disks and it all checked out fine - no issues...

However, upon rebooting to OS X disk utility worked! Woohoo, thanks so much! :D
