disk repair from cd or application-utilities....?
Is there a difference between running disk repair from the CD and from the disk utility found within the app-utilities folder? Reading on the subject, it seems that it's advised to run from the cd. Is there a reason for this? thanks

its actiually best to run from the app in utilities. repair permissions has to read reciepts on your mac to repair the permissions, when you do it from the cd, it creates new ones as opposed to reading current ones, which isn't always better and can cause problems with some apps. you should really only do it from the cd when a. repairing permissions from the app isn't helping(probably a corrupt reciept), or b. the first time you ever repair permissions, if you haven't installed much or done much, there won't be receipts to read from.
