Our program creates files with a certain file type, and I'd like to associate these with TextEdit. I need to be able to programatically do this as it will be distributed to users.
I've tried editing the Info.plist in TextEdit.app to incorporate my file extension (basically copying the entry for 'txt'), restarting my machine, but no joy. Is anyone aware if this is possible, and the best way to do it?
