Hi all - just installed Safari and Quicktime updates and now Finder playing silly beggars - every minute or so it rearranges any hard drive icons, connected network icons or external hard drive icons and places them in the middle of the screen (a nuisance) but worse still Finder just jumps to the front and I have to click back onto whatever app I'm using at the time. I've tried removing the 'com.apple.finder.plist' and 'com.apple.sidebarlists.plist' files and rebooting but nothing. Any help would be much appreciated!!

OS 10.4 finder problem after safari and QT updates

I am having the same problem with Finder jumping to front of active window, curiously just after updating Safari and Quicktime and a few other things. Did you find a solution?

Bump

I'm now having the same problem with the Finder jumping in front of App screens and windows. This happened after I auto updated QuickTime.

Just yesterday (1/26/09) I did a Quicktime update to 7.6 and now have the same annoying trait. Finder (10.4.7) jumps to the front interrupting workflow.

Another Solution:

My setup: Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5, with OS 10.4.11.

My Finder Jumping started when I downloaded the QuickTime update 7.6.

By process of elimination I found that deleting the preferences, "loginwindow.plist" and "OfficeSync Prefs"
from USER>Library>Preferences seems to have fixed my Jumping Finder for now.

"com.stuffit.AVR.plist" didn't seem to be the culprit for me.

Having the same issue; FINDER popping to the front. I also auto-updated Quicktime recently. This is totally annoying. Thanks artguy for your suggestions. I'll try your suggestions.

Thanks motodave. I had the same problem with a G4 PowerBook running 10.4.11. Disabling the Stuffit AVR button worked for me. No more Finder take-over.
