How do you make an outline
I was trying to make an outline in pages for a paper, but it wont let me go back. Here is an example because this is hard to explain.

    I. Topic
    A. Subtopic
    1. Detail
    2. Detail
    B. It wont let me go back to B.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT-my example got messed up but i think you should still be able to get the idea.

The enter thing starts me at the margin but when i press tab it skips past the first letter. I don't know if that makes sense this is hard to explain. Thanks for the replies though.

    Hobosrck,

Have you opened up the inspector and examined your list settings?

While already in your outline (Pages calls it a list), bring up the inspector and click on the capitol T. Then select the list button.

In your example, once I was finished with "2" and wanted to create the new section "B", I would press enter to start a new line (temporarily making "3") and then use that inspector's "Indent level" arrows to adjust what level of the hierarchy I wanted to be editing.

    Good luck.

    I don't have iWork so I can't try it

I know that is how it works in MS Office

I never used that shortcut in MS Office (it understood me when I simply pressed delete).

I just tested it, however, and it does indeed work by using Shift + Tab. Good call Nputer.
