I came from a Dell, with uTorrent, which was simple and fast... I'm trying Transmission right now, and it's slow as ...

Suggestions for a better one?

I use transmission and yeah, it's a dog with fleas. I heard Azures was good, but I haven't tried it.

I thought it was more down to the torrents that you use, the amount of seeders/leacher - Share Ratio etc.

Transmission is more lightweight software wise compared to the others as far as I know. Azereus was killing my iMac completely and there was no need.

Ha ha - well if transmission is a step up, that's a real problem.

PC clients just seem faster - although I have no idea why that should be the case.

Well saying that I havn't use Transmission much. I've only changed yesterday. I am happy with it so far though and it seems to be a fairly basic program. Thats what I want - its not about the program its about the torrent.

Azereus just wasn't for me - but hey if you have a monster of a Mac Pro or something go for it! I just think that while the Mac is able for it, its a waste or resources.

I heard that bittorrent clients are now illegal on macs. Is this true?
Haha no! Bittorrent clients along with P2P clients are not illegal. The only time you can get into legal trouble is when you download copyrighted files. Other than that you will not get in trouble for having P2P programs.

About it being slow, I am pretty sure iRock is correct about it having to do with the torrent. If you are downloading a torrent with no/few seeders or no/few leechers then your speeds are going to be low. It also has to do if you forwarded your ports right and what not.

Are you sure?

Many Linux Distros along with OpenOffice are able to be downloaded with a BitTorrent client. There are also trackers dedicated to legal torrent downloads.

have anyone tried xtorrent. I think it's the only torrent client i seen that you have to pay for. not sure what extra features it has over others to make you want to buy a torrent client.

I use regular old bittorrent and it pretty much rocks. It starts out slowly and quickly builds to 800-900k download speeds if there are a dozen or more seeds. I think dorrent downloading is all about finding the right torrent with enough seeds, more than it is about which client you run.
