Thread: iWeb vs Dreamweaver?
05-24-2007, 03:42 PM #1iWeb vs Dreamweaver?
Is it really worth simplicity of use (iWeb) vs flexibity of design (Dreamweaver) if you want to do a small web page? I've used Dreamweaver, which can be a bit daunting at times. I've never used iWeb however as it seems like it couldn't do what I wanted at the time. I know they're two completely different apps with one aimed at personal web page layout vs. professional web design.
I was thinking of putting together a small online gallery for a personal photography business and didn't know if I wanted to go all out with Dreamweaver...but then again I haven't used the CS3 version yet.
Any thoughts or experiences?

Have you tried RapidWeaver? I find it to be a good balance between something basic like iWeb and an advanced program like Dreamweaver.
If you search the forums, you'll find a way to get a copy of RapidWeaver for free

I've used both but recently I've ditched Dreamweaver for iWeb simply because it's too easy not to use.
Since I didn't get into the complex site building that Dreamweaver is capable of doing, I found iWeb made nice looking pages that worked for my situation.
Personally, since I don't want to invest a bunch of time in building my site and don't use all the bells of Dreamweaver, iWeb really fits my needs.http://www.mmmii.com

The CS3 version of Dreamweaver is almost identical to the CS2 version from what I have seen (I have not spent too much time on it since I got it).
iWeb is great but I get sick of the same themes pretty fast...I often mix the two.
I think if you really want a unqiue and nice looking page you need to put in the time with Dreamweaver. I'm lazy and don't want to spend the time so I prefer iWeb...I guessXbox Live Gamertag:tr00p3rls

Yep, whilst the rest of the CS3 suite have some new interface features, DW is just the same as before, albeit with Intel support. I came across a bug or two but I was astounded to be greeted with info windows with OS 9 graphics :-o
