    Hi all

    Just a quick question, does turning File vault on slow down os x at all??.

    Specs:
    20" iMac 2.0Ghz, 2Gb RAM Early 2006, 30Gb iPod 5th Gen. 15" MacBookPro, 2.33GHz
    I can't say that I have noticed much of a difference since turning it on. The only annoyance is that everytime that I shut down I get a little box that comes up saying that

    "The file system is using more space than necessary. File Vault can recover this space. Click OK to continue."

    The system then does something for about 5-10 seconds and then continues it's shut down.

    Otherwise no problems experienced.
