Ok, so on the apple web site it says that with OS X comes the JDK and VM. These are nowhere to be found on my Mac (running 10.4.7) Am I looking in the wrong place on my Mac or are they named differently or something, or have I misunderstood something?

Also, Xcode (which as far as I understand is a useful text editor for writing Java code?) is supposedly a free download from the Apple website, and all i can find are updates for Xcode.

Do I have to buy these apps? Nowhere I've looked has said these cost, but having only updates available to download, it seems these might not be free. Can anyone help me out here please and point me in the right direction?

Ok, so they don't get installed with a regular install of OS X Tiger? But I can just install it from my DVD right?
