Recently someone (you know who you are) I honestly do not remember what thread it was referred to in but it included a link to an app called "Clean" https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/clean/id418412301?mt=12. At the time I just copied it to a note for future ref. About a week ago I downloaded this free little utility and I was just so impressed with it I wanted to give some feedback to the developer but I am unable to find the developer at all. Vojto Rinik who is listed as the developer seems impossible to find. He has 4 other apps on the App Store but Support for any of them takes you to an empty site called codingwithlove.com a page with no content other than a link to a privacy policy. It appears to be a hosting site.
This little app is both simple and effective and performs a job at which I am admittedly hopeless.
It removes and files the contents of my desktop every day. The frequency is optional and it ignores tagged files if required but for me this is like having a butler come in and tidy up my desk on a daily basis.
It makes finding what I'm working on today easy to find and allows me to review what I was working on once a week to file or trash as desired.
In the mean time I have a clean and uncluttered desktop.
This all raises one interesting point however, how is it that the apps from this are not supported. I assume apple have contact details for the developer but don't they monitor this type of thing or do the sheer number of apps make that impossible?

I'm not sure what you're asking, but if it works it works and I'm not sure what you mean by "supported", but even if it was released in 2011, well written software can last for years if Apple doesn't muck things up too much.

And if you need to, Vojto Rinik seems to have his own site and some older links don't work, but google does. ;)
Try this: Vojtech Rinik

Thanks pm-r had already tried that link you provided, and Google, no joy I'm afraid.
What I meant by not supported is that each of the 5 apps this developer has released have a link on their individual App Store page for Support. In each case the link does not take you the the developers home page or even a blog, just an empty page. I am not a developer so I don't know how this works but every other app I have had always takes you to some sort of promotional page with a contact option so thats what I expected. Maybe this is not the case for small time developers but as all of this persons other apps are pay for the money must be going somewhere. I suppose I thought, perhaps unrealistically that Apple would monitor apps to make sure support links are maintained. Guess not.:(

I don't know Rod, but I guess you could try contacting Apple and just a tiny bit of maybe, they just might be able to help, but I won't hold my breath.

But boy if they broke some Apple App Store rule, I'll bet the speed at which they can work would make our heads spin!!

Wow!! Thanks for this info. Every day (almost!) I manually 'clean' my desktop, putting everything into a folder from which I file or delete items from time to time. Now this happens automatically. I get Clean to put all my desktop items into a folder on my desktop so they are all still readily available. Magic.

Among all my "'Round'Tuits" is such a desktop "cleaner", so I thought I'd try some of the alternates as well as some reviews say they have more options, so I'll try them and see.

I ended up with these as well:
DesktopTidy
Desktoday
via DesktopTidy for Mac | MacUpdate

They also have Desktop Tidy 2.1, but at an excessive to me Price of $8.99, I'll pass thanks.

PS: One comment mentioned that "Clean" was hard to get rid of, but I doubt I'll have trouble, and it couldn't be turned Off. That would be a turn off for me as I like to have some control. Sorry for that… ;)

I must be crazy: I rarely put anything on the desktop at all, and even then only put things on the desktop very temporarily (like a download of an image) and then use the file as desired and save it to the correct place that I want it to reside, or trash it as needed. Seems to work for me.

I have to agree with chas_m on this. The "cluttered desktop syndrome" apparently is some kind of carry over from Windows. I once worked with a guy who put everything on his desktop in Windows; I mean everything. He had so many icons and links to documents on his desktop that it was confusing.
