I have a Pages doc file that I have password protected. Last time I was in it, I meant to minimize the document to the dock, but instead clicked the red x and closed it. I did not close the program. When I next tried to open the document, Pages prompted me for the password, but I got a warning:
"[doc name] cannot be opened"
I haven't been able to open it since.
Is there another pathway?
This doc has several works I'm readying for publishing on it--almost 400,000 words! 5 years of my life. I do have a older backup, but I need to fix the problem on the desktop before I try to use it from the stick, I don't want to make the situation worse.

Any help is appreciated!!! How can I recover the pages doc on my desktop.

It sounds like the document became corrupt when you accidentally closed it before saving. This is one of the hazards when you assign a password to a document. I don't know how you can recover anything if the password is corrupt and the document refuses to open.

You may have to live with the backup by bringing it up to date. And my advice is not to password protect documents unless absolutely necessary.
