    iTunes problem after upgrade
I have just done a clean instal from OS X 10.8.5 to 10.9. Now, when I lok at my iTunes it has to reload all of my music files after each power off and back on. When they are reloaded there is 4 copies of each file. Some files are there in mp3 and m4a file types and then there are 8 of each!

Now, I really like Celine Dion, but to have the same song repeat 8 times is enough for most people init?

    Any ideas please??
    John.

I assume that nobody has seen this before?

Is it possible that I am going to have to completely reload my iTunes library and if so can I do so from my iPod Touch 2nd gen 16gig? I really don't want to loos all of my music, French audio lessons and gawd knows what else.

Any ideas would really be appreciated folks
    John.

I'm posting from my iPad, so I can't attach screenshots or check actual menu items/commands, but try:
    1. Point iTunes to your library again.
    2. Then, use the 'check for duplicates' function if necessary.
    3. Finally, verify by quitting and re-opening iTunes.

    Just a guess...

Go to Preferences, Advanced. iTunes Media folder location is at the top. The Change button allows you to define a new location and the Reset button changes to the default location.

Somewhere along the line the music folder had changed? It's now all where it shoud be and I have got rid of the few duplicates as well. They were mainly from loading up different CDs.

Once again you guys on here have been really helpful and once again thank you!!

I have no doubt that I will be back, but I also hope that I can help at times too

Is your usual media folder on a network drive or external hard drive? If so that can cause the folder to change. Sometimes iTunes will merely revert to the default location which is inside your user folder in a folder called iTunes.
