iTunes - displaying individual artist's songs

So I recently downloaded the latest top 40 singles and imported them into iTunes. But I can't see the songs when I go down my artists list. As in I click on an artist and all their other songs are there but none from the songs I just imported.

Anyone got any idea of how to fix this?

If the files were successfully imported, they would show up in the Recently Added smart playlist. You can then ensure that the files had proper ID3 tags or not. If they show up as empty, you can enter the relevant information and then be able to find it in the library..

All the information is there (track, artist, album artist etc) but I still can't find the tracks by artists
