Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but it seemed like the best place to try...

After searching the forums I haven't seen this answered, and a google search provides a dizzying number of opinions (most just speculation) about a problem with iWork documents not syncing to iCloud after a few months ago (maybe coinciding with an iOS update), and who's problem it is to fix...

I wasn't having any issue whatsoever, creating numbers & pages docs, with changes made syncing between my iPad 2 (more recently 'new' iPad, and my iPhones, 4 & 5... suddenly, they just stopped uploading changes to the cloud. i see the progress bar, but it goes nowhere.
It's only iWork with the trouble, as notes & iCal sync just fine to all devices...

is there a consensus on who/what caused the issue, and how to fix it?
Thanks!

I've just checked the sync between my iPhone 5 and iPad 3 using Pages and it functioned fine. I'm running the latest iOS and versions of Pages. Have you tried your system recently?

There is a setting which only allows the documents to sync via wi-fi if that is a factor?

yep, i should be up to date...ios 6.0.1, numbers & pages both updated to 1.7.1...

this started before ios6 came out, I was hoping it would correct the problem somehow.
my iPad is wifi only, and I've tried both with/without wifi from the iPhone 5...no dice. Don't see any settings that specify wifi only, but even so, the ipad IS wifi only.
Strange that it's just these 2 apps. Seemed to be happening for a lot of folks, all of a sudden, as I found when i searched the web.

All worked perfectly til several months back.

One thing to note, that may have no bearing on this issue, is that I can't send an email from the phone unless wifi is off... it's always been that way. iPad: no problem sending on wifi. Even now. When we started using Mail, we had to change port numbers to get the MBPs to send from it, but changing the number on the phone didn't make a difference.

I've been in heaven since switching from Windows, but this is baffling!

Have you tried using the capability recently in case it has self-healed?

That could be down to the access point you are using, is it your own wi-fi point?

oh yeah constantly. I just have to use the numbers docs on the iPad exclusively... anytime I make a change, I get the progress bar, but nothing uploads... and just with Numbers & Pages

So - it sounds like you got new hardware - and then the syncing stopped working? Did I understand that correctly?

One of the other users may have had a similar problem. Can you check your iCloud login on icloud.com vs what you see with icloud on your iOS devices? Basically - if you go through the default setup of new iOS devices - it defaults everything to your iTunes login - which may or may not be right for iCloud. When I get a new iOS device - I do not sign into anything - until I get through the initial setup - I then go in and log into iCloud and iTunes separately. If you only have 1 account then this isn't the problem. That being said - I've found Apple has been linking new @icloud.com accounts - and it may be that account is what is set when you got your new devices.

third time's a charm?

I think my trouble started before i got my iphone 5... I think.
I haven't fooled with the @icloud and @me settings, as I haven't used them--or have i?
Also, if other apps (notes, calendars) sync between devices instantly, is this still possibly where the issue lies?
Can you tell me what settings to look for, and how they should be set for proper syncing (that is IF it might still be my problem if other apps sync)?

Could this just be something that I've just ignored? Id assumed that it came about with an app or iOS update... ugh

thanks!

You mentioned a new iPad - on top of the iPhone 5.

It is possible - and actually one of the symptoms that the other user reported. Some things were syncing - some weren't. Apple added an icloud.com account to my account - and started throwing that address into everything which messed up my messages but my mail and all that was syncing because of a different account.

It all depends on setup - but you have to look at your iCloud settings on
www.iCloud.com

your Computer under System Preferences -> iCloud
System Preferences -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Messages -> Preferences -> Accounts

Your iOS devices
Settings -> iCloud
Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Settings -> Messages

You have to make sure your login is the same across all those settings - otherwise some things will sync - some won't.
