Japanese characters not appearing in software

I just bought Corel Painter Essentials 4 and the program is entirely in Japanese. I have Kotoeri working on my Mac (it's OSX 10.6.8) but some of the Japanese doesn't appear in the program. I attached a picture of the area that shows up as gibberish. Does anyone know why it doesn't work? Japanese always shows up wherever I use it.
Thank you! And I hope I didn't post this under the wrong section.

Even if you setup your Mac to display Japanese, there are going to be some things that will not display correctly in a program that is designed to be used entirely in Japanese. Usually what won't display properly are menus and certain other aspects of the program.
I always recommend purchasing the English version and then setup your Mac to display Japanese from the International settings. That way, the program will always be viewable.
We routinely do a lot of work in Korean and that's how we have our machine setup. No problems whatsoever.
