Stretch's introduction to Spotlight demonstrated why so many people find Spotlight useful. I've used it for some basic searches but always felt I wasn't using it to its fullest potential. A few quick Internet searches led to some interesting tips that should make Spotlight more effective. Since Spotlight is the backbone of all searches on your Mac, anything that makes Spotlight smarter makes your Mac smarter. Here's some of my favorite tips.

If you find that Spotlight is not searching some of your files correctly try searching for plugins that extend its search capabilities. Here's a small sample of what's available Spotlight Plugins Utilities.
When looking for plugins make sure the plugins intended architecture matches your hardware and software. Plugins written for the Power PC Macs, for example, will not run on Macs that are currently reining Lion (OS X 10.7).Sylvester Roque Former Contributing Editor About This Particular Macintosh
