Hi everyone.

I need quite a bit of help. Seems that itunes is completely screwed up. Things were fine and suddenly iTunes quit working properly.

So, I use an external drive for all my music (Seagate Free agent goFlex. Fat 32 file system) it seems iTunes fails on launch. In fact, I do not even get to the main itunes screen it fails while loading the app yielding a huge list of errors made up of memory addresses. I feel like the most important issues are:

Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000110e8e194

The weird thing is this happens either when the hard drive is connected or not.
at the moment without the drive connected, iTunes will open. but then a couple hours will go by and itll fail and then i have to plug in the drive and iTunes will be able to open. In other words, the circumstances switch randomly. i have no idea where to go.

I have tried installing itunes 10.7. Ive tried running itunes in safe mode by holding option command while itunes opens and it doesnt help to resolve the process in whichever arrangement works. example: if i run itunes with my hdd connected and it fails running it in safe mode still doesnt make it work. choosing a library before itunes opens by holding option key does not work. Any one else have this problem or know of any solutions?

im running OS X 10.7.3.

Do you have a special reason to use FAT as you're filesystem for you're external HD?
Fat is not OSX native .
Beside that it is a rather old file system

FAT32 is a universal filesystem allowing the HD to be used with Linux, Windows and Mac without the need for any special software..

Since OS X has been dealing with FAT32 for quite a while, that is most likely not the culprit here.

I would suggest a uninstallation and re-installation of the latest version of iTunes to see if that clears this up for you..
