Is this putting my computer at risk?
    Hello

I'm currently a college student taking courses online. I just recently got a MacBook Pro 13" 10.7.2 late 2011 model. I am also running Google Chrome instead of Safari, and most importantly Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, the education version.

My teacher has assigned us readings for the class in .mht files, a.k.a. mhtml. I remember hearing a lot of commotion about mhtml putting users at risk with a major security hole, especially if they were using internet explorer on Windows.

So, my question, is if I open and read these mhtml files in Microsoft Word, is that putting my MacBook at risk? I know that threats for Windows don't usually carry over, but I don't want to be misinformed either.

I also admit that I am quite the dummy when it comes to this sort of thing

No problem if you are using Office 2011. Word macros did not operate on Macs after Office 2004.
Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
