How Time Machine works? Hourly?

As far as my understanding goes, Time Machine makes hourly backups, so that means that if I need to go back in time, I may do so every hour. Well, thats not really that important to me, as I would even risk saying that I never delete something accidentally. But I like having backups.

So, lets say that at 20h, Time Machine do the backup, and at 20:10h I download an important document. Will Time Machine immeadiatly backup the document, or will it only occur at 21h?

So if at 20:20h my internal Hard Drive fails. Will the 20:10h file be safe?

The backup wouldn't occur immediately but would occur whenever the next backup was supposed to occur: In your example 21h.

And there is no backup program that will immediately backup any change.

For that you would need a RAID setup.

You can however select 'backup now' anytime you feel that you should!

That's what I do also. Just plug the drive in and "backup now". I like Time Machine but having it backup every hour seems redundant to me.

Actually there is...the one Ive been using...I was just doing research on Time Machine.

The application is "Anywhere Backup" from Western Digital. Looks like Im keeping it.
