I have been using 'Bcc' to address emails in Mail for quite a while, so that everyone doesn't see all my addressees. Now I find out that the emails are still being sent in the 'To' address category even though I put the addresses in 'Bcc'. I checked the web on Apple Support and it said to use 'Bcc', put your own email address in the 'To' field and everyone else's in the 'Bcc' field. Does anyone know if this is correct? Seems like kind of a pain. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you're doing but the blind carbon copy address field (BCC) is where you would put the addresses of those recipients who you do not want to see each other's address. This works well when sending out an email to a group of addressees.

Any address in the TO: or CC: (carbon copy) will be seen by others. It works that way in all mail programs.

When I send emails, I put all addresses in 'Bcc' but people who receive them say that everyone's address is appearing in the 'To' field. I know how the 'Bcc' is supposed to work, mine just doesn't seem to. Like I said, I checked out Apple Support and it said to put MY email address in the 'To' field and everyone else's in the 'Bcc' field. For some reason, this worked. No one else's email address, other than the addressee, appeared in the emails people received.

Maybe I misunderstood your post. Were you leaving the TO: field blank before? If so, that may be the reason it wasn't working. It would then pick up from the Bcc field assuming everything was a separate address.

I always do it the way I described in my first reply and it works. I'm using GMail with iMap.
