I'm fed up with safari. I've searched all over the web, but cant find any info as to why safari wont launch on my MB pro.

Here's what I have:
MBP Uni
v10.5.8
2.4 ghz core duo
2gb 1067 MHz DDR3

The issue:
Every time I try to start it, it just says that safari failed to launch. I read up on a couple of similar instances, and created another user account. It wouldn't open there either. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it with no progress. I dont remember when it started, but I know that I just got aggravated and just started using FF. Only issue is that all of my favorite bookmarks that I have accumulated over the past 2 years are in safari and are unreachable. Can someone please help me out here?

Keep in mind, while I am no idiot on a computer..... I'm no expert either.
Thanks in advance

What version of Safari?

I believe 5.0.3 is the newest for Leopard, and maybe newest period.

Your bookmarks are fine and can be imported by following these instructions. So, in the mean time, you'll at least have those.

There should be a log of the crash available in Console (/Applications/Utilities). Could you post the contents of a Safari crash log here?

Trash Safari and download this nice new clean version:-

Safari 5.0.3

There are many versions of Safari, including Windows versions, so perhaps there may have been a mix up.

that's the one that I tried re downloading twice. I know there are tons of permissions that need to be repaired that I cant seem to fix. I'm thinking I'll just go with getting snow leopard and see if that straightens everything out.

Uninstall Glims. After doing so, try to relaunch Safari. An uninstaller is available here.
