I have finally had enough of i-photo it's bloated (30GB) and I just want a system where I have 1 set of original Folders with dates and titles, and 1 external and 1 cloud back up! how hard can that be? and not numerous copies and rubbish that seem to be there.
When searching for a solution to this problem you all seem to be saying
DO NOT TOUCH THE FINDER THING, but I want out and I want control,:'(:'(:'( any advice?

Haha you think 30GB is bloated? My library is creeping pretty close to 90GB right now.

If you want control, then don't use iPhoto. Either do it manually using Finder (use Image Capture to import) to organize, or get yourself a program that does what you want (Picasa is kind of like iPhoto but with more control).

The obvious solution would be not to use iPhoto and to manage the photos manually.

You may want to look into Google Picasa. I haven't used it in a while and I don't do much photo stuff but AFAIK, it doesn't move or make copies of the pictures and you are free to organize them as you see fit. It also has integration with Picasa Web if you so desire.

Ok so how do I extract my original pictures from i-photo, and then I can delete all the other crap. I only have 1GB left on my macbook pro and I can't afford a new one at the moment, I need to free up space........

Umm since when does running out of space warrant buying a new MBP? >_>" Just get an external HDD to back up your stuff.

I also found iPhoto to be garbage and had a similar question. Unfortunately, I already had hundreds of Events, and manually exporting them was going to be a nightmare.

Check out iPhoto To Disk.

It will export your iPhoto library nicely. Your Events become Folders auotmatically. The end result is similar to the standard Windows My Photos setup.
