    Winrar?
Hi, I'm totally new to Mac, I just bought a MBP last week and I'm expending time to learn it. I just want to know what do you use for unraring or unziping files?

    Thank you

    Welcome to the forum

OSX Natively supports zipping and unzip but for RARs you'll need something like Stuffit free expander
StuffIt Expander for Mac 2010 - Expand Zip, Rar, Sit files
External hard disk acquisition addict - but admitting the problem is the first step to a robust backup

    Specs:
    20" Intel iMac 2.4 Ghz/3G Ram/320HD, Snow Leopard. PBook G4, 1.5Ghz/1.5 Ram/250 HD, Leopard 10.5.6.
UnrarX or The Unarchiver for unzipping. SimplyRAR for making. UnrarX is good if you get password protected files, as Unarchiver seems to struggle. Otherwise it's a great program.

UnRarX - Mac OS X RAR Extraction Utility

    The Unarchiver

I would actually recommend BetterZip. Not only can it handle all of the formats WinRAR does, but it's one of the few Mac archive utilities that actually shows you the content of the file before you unarchive it, allowing you to select the bits and pieces you need rather than do the whole thing if need be.
Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

    17 inch 2 GHz C2D imac (5,1) with 3GB DDR2 RAM, X1600 (128MB memory) GPU - OSX 10.6.3
A point I want to say:

The Unarchiver and Better Zip work most of the time as stated above. But they do not work with passworded .rar archives. I have only gotten UnRarX to work with passworded .rar archives. Just add in the password first then extract the archive and it works just fine.
