    Finder - Customize New Folder Name
    Hi, my first ost here...
    Looking for a way in Finder to change the name of every newly created folder, instead of "untitled folder".
    I have my naming convention using the date (090727-folder name). Looking for a way how the folder could be created with today's date as a prefix. So i don't have to type the date every time.
    (I am on OS X 10.4.11.)
    Thanks much for any advice.

    awesome, I just found your post looking for a tweak for the exact same situation.

    I just use following standard 090727 - folder name, looks cleaner ; )

    Ever got a reply to your post or found a solution yourself?

    Using Automator - Setting Workflow Options

    I'll give it a try during the weekend.

    Please let me know if if you have tried it before and didn't work.

    Hi hanslaut,
    I ended up using the terminal,
    did a small bash script, it does create the folder with the right prefix and
    does copy it into the clipboard for later use (just because thats what i need it to do):

    #!/bin/bash
    # if not enough arguments print the usage
    if [ $# -lt 1 ]
    then
    printf "Usage: %s: [-d value]\n" $(basename $0) >&2
    exit 1
    fi

    DT=$(date +"%y%m%d-$DATESTR")

    echo "$DT" | pbcopy
    echo "$DT" | xargs mkdir -v

    exit 0
