I am working on a project in which I do not want to save the picture files in separate folders. Is there a way to encrypt the picture into the file itself? :\

Take a screen shot of project and then import in the picture into the word document.

You misunderstood a little bit. Let me elaborate. The project is the word document. It is a book portfolio in which each page will be uploaded onto a web page. There is a text editor thing within the site itself, but it is proprietary and bad. I want make each page in word and save it as an html file without picture folders. Can picture files be self contained within the html. I don't know how to read html, but I don't think that matters really.

Print each page to PDF?

No, you can't include "pictures in an HTML page" as HTML just defines how a page is to look. Because of this, HTML just defines where a picture goes on a page. Think of HTML like a boss, dictating where each element of a page goes. In this case you still need the elements or in your case, you still need separate pictures.

Why can't you have separate pictures?

If I upload the file as a PDF when you click the link tab to the document, you will get a download display rather than a viewable webpage.

I am using this site called Blackboard in which the each page you can create in the proprietary text editor on the page or I can upload basically one file to define the page. There is this feature to create folders, but I don't know how to link to another file. Here are some pictures of the "blackboard" portfolio creation site. One of the photos shows how the link to the picture does not exist. In another attempt the broken picture link showed the path on my computer, ie hardrive/desltop/folder/folder/image.png
I can use this blackboard site's server for the image however I don't know how to link the picture to the document without using the proprietary document creature which is slow and limits the styles, fonts, organization.

Without using word I cannot do tricky things but I am able to put in the picture. Still it ruins my double spacing. I am pretty particular about formatting and aesthetics. This might not seem worth it to others, but I want to do other things besides double spacing maybe on other pages.

Don't worry, I'm the same :).

For Windows users, as long as the user has Adobe Reader installed, the document will be shown in the browser window. On the Mac, it will be displayed in the browser as well in Safari (without having Adobe Reader installed). For Firefox on the Mac, if they don't have the Firefox PDF Plugin installed, they will get a download dialog.

You need to know a little html if you want no picture folders. <img src="your filename.gif (or .jpg)" width="yourwidth" height="yourheight" alt="my image name">

I find it easier if the pictures are in a folder, but I guess that doesn't work too well in blackboard?

I just tried that to see what would happen and it creates a folder with the pictures (not surprising) and not only did it include the pictures, it appears to have included lower quality copies of the pictures as well with the original. This is on top of some other files.
