Hello all. I have been getting really frustrated with itunes as of late.
Im a DJ and i use itunes to manage my music and im quickly seeing how many flaws itunes really has.

Now im constantly moving music on to my external drives and moving them back onto my laptop to use on gigs. Now whenever i go to take music back out of itunes and move it back onto the other drives itunes doesn't realize that the song is no longer on my computer so it still keep the songs in my library. The only way it appears i can remove these songs that are technically not on the system is click the song(single) click no not to find the song then delete it out of the library.

Many other programs will automatically search the library and update/remove any songs that are not found and import ones that are new. Is there anyway that i can have itunes do this. Its really killing me!!!

Basically, no, as far as I'm aware. It's the biggest flaw in all of iTunes sadly.

Just copy them onto your external rather than moving them.

That way they aren't removed from the library and consequently don't need adding back in.

Ya im trying to avoid cluttering my laptop with songs that don't get used very often. I usually just load stuff i listen to and things that im going to need for my next gig on the laptop. The point of me having my externals is so that i don't need to bog down the laptop space with crap.

The only time that it updated the library was when i installed a new version it updated. other then that there is no solution to this it seems.

Have a look at this:
Mac: iTunes watch folder with Automator

Another thought is to create your full library on your external and a 2nd 'temp' library on your laptop that can be easily emptied and recreated.
