Problem: When browsing using Safari (most of the time usually YouTube), I get the rainbow spin and then it stops responding and I need to RESTART the computer to open a navigation window again. The Force Quit option only makes it quit but I cannot re-open.

My questions are:
- Anyone else with this problem -> How did you fix it?
- Could it be a virus or malware? (unfortunaltely I have to admit going to some of those* sites :[ )
- Would I fix it if I do a clean install of OS X in my MacBook?

I mean... it's not normal to have this happen with a 5 month old computer, right? And I have not installed more than 2 other programs.

You don't have any Viruses or Malware. Maybe you should try and update your version of Flash Player, and see if that fixes it.

Also trying using Firefox, and see if you get the same results, this will help narrow down the issue.

If you did a clean install of OS X, yes it would fix the problem, but that should only be done in extreme cases.

Got it, but, why would it crash everytime? It has done it with other software... I think the Picture Browser is the other one that it did this with.

not sure why it would crash everytime. From your first post, you said it did it in Safari.

Only thing I can think of is if you downloaded an illegal version of iWork or iLife, which has said to have a 'malware' program attached to it, however there are no known viruses for OS X.

Have you made sure all your software is updated, via Software Update?

Nope... no illegal download of iWork or iLife (I don't even use the ones that came with my MacBook....

When I get back home today I will make sure that all the updates are done.
