Well Chas, my Forstner bits get as big as 2" diameter. That i s big enough for me mate!

The last time I bought any drill bits from your side of the pond they started at about 0.25 mm and went to about 1.5mm and there was 50 in the box. All solid tungsten carbide, so I know just how big you make em They don't need to go deep because TC drill bits don't need oil to lubricate them

Just looking at a lot of the members avatars here one could get the impression that its some sort an aviators or pilots forum.

Hmm, there is a distinct aeronautical theme happening here. Clearly I'm not a part of that.

I'm not allowed an Avatar. I had one when I first joined, but ever since my account mysteriously disappeared, I haven't been able to add any. Can't wait for the new site to be up and ready.

On another note, when this site finally closes, will all of the good responses and actual fixes to issues, disappear from the internet forever?

Please backup. Everything has a life cycle, unexpected and warning free. Nothing will last as long as you want it to.

Hopefully, below, is a bigger shot of one of my avitars. It was taken with my old Nicon SLR film camera and is not doctored in any way than feathering the border. I was stood in the right place and was a real star with the shutter (in this case 'star is spelled lucky )

Bob, unfortunately once this site does go away all the answers will be lost as well. The various search engines will have broken links for a while and then they will disappear.

The only way to retain the info would be get a DB dump from here to the new site but there is no movement on that.

did something happen to the site a few months ago as I was trying to log in and it wasn't recognizing my username or email or password or anything. I even tried reregistering and that didn't work.

I only decided to look again as I'm waiting on a response to appleinsider about a question I had regarding quicktime and my iphone SE, and lo, I can log in again under my original username and password

We did have some DB issues a few months back whereby the entire site was inaccessible.

Try again with your old Avatar. Nick and I have since received elevated permissions which we didn't have before. Maybe we can get it to work again?
