For mine I will wait for the macforums.org site to be up and running. Just can't tolerate those 60 emails a day from FB, including photos. Australia's 6Mb/ps telephone line ADSL in rural areas does not han dle photos well.
Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!

The person who posted all the pics is gone from the group. We told him it was bothering people and he got mad and left.

I don't know who told him what, but that's not the result we want. We are here to attract folks to our new forums not drive them away. If someone does not like a particular post, just skip over it.

@Harry: You can turn off the emails from Facebook by going to notifications and turn them off. I receive no notifications from Facebook on my Mac nor my iPhone.

As Aussies say, bugger. I've had plenty of help and wish I could have helped others out as well. I've already put my stamp (hopefully) on facebook for the new forum. I've seen mad rumours and will have a look, but feel that the people on here are so friendly and helpful that I'd like to stay with them.

A healthy, happy and prosperous new year to all members and hope to see you 'on the other side.'
    Pete.

Ah yes, I used to visit that place some years ago, but I hear it has improved lately. And under a slightly different name now I believe.

The pictures didn't reach my email, so they didn't bother me as much. He did like to share what he was doing, and his reviews were thorough. Maybe he'll come back once the board is up again.

Sorry, I made a comment about there being so many words, with a smilie. Didnít anticipate any problems but trouble seems to follow me.

Though, it was really really hard to follow his posts though, I did try!

I donít look for trouble honest

There was a Rumor going around that these forums as we know them were being shut down.
    So glad it wasn't true!

Even if they were to announce today that they had decided to keep this forum open, given a choice I would go with Dennis and the new forum. Dennis will be able to give the admin team the permissions needed to run things as we need them to be. As ownership of these forums have changed over the years, our team has lost some management capabilities that they used to have.

I think. And by both answering and telling them how to stay connected, maybe we can bring some of those new folks to the new site when it opens up.

And for others, I'm sure they'll find the new site with a google or other web search for their Apple device or problem when the webbots finish with their info gathering. Just as many found this forum. Ö

There still is a rumour about it, but sometimes the 'u' is missing

I am disappointed. This forum has been a great asset for me, and a standing relief knowing it was here. I am also confused. Today is two weeks since the 31st, and the forum seems to be active, questions being asked, answers posted. Is it just momentum that will eventually fizzle out? I went to http://mac-forums.org/, but registration is not yet possible.

    Up the .org forum!

Even with Admins only posting at this stage it looks clean and attractive.
Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
