Hey all,

I'd like to connect my iMac G5 to the stereo in my room so I can put all my iTunes stuff through it. Plus, the CD tray is broken at the moment so the stereo doesn't really have any use beside radio. I already have some SoundSticks in my room, but I'd still like to make use of the nice speakers that came with the stereo. I figure I can just by a headphone splitter or something to that effect, and then have the other spare input for some sort of cable to run to the stereo. I am seriously naive on all of that so if anyone could help me out that'd be great. Thanks

You need a 1/8" plug -> RCA Audio cable. Once you plug that in (or a splitter for that matter) the sound on the iMac's speakers is disabled, so there isn't much of a point to purchasing the Headphone splitter

You would need the cable said above and you might want to looking in to a distribution amplifier. That way you keep every thing at line level.

I just use a FM Modulator with the Stereo's antanna wire stapled to the back of the desk. Gives great sound. Also, I souldered a 1.5 DC converter to my FM Modulator so that it has constent power, instead of using batteries.
