I am a student looking to record my classroom lectures. I understand how to record using GarageBand, this part is pretty simple. However, I am looking to upgrade a microphone to have better sound input. Classrooms at my university have about a 20 foot whiteboard area located in the front of the classroom. This is the area in which profs spend most of their time. Is there a good stationary wireless mic that i could set about 10 feet from the board in the center of the classroom that would pick up the prof when he/she is speaking?

Has anyone done anything similar to this, if so, what did you use?

Thanks!

Although perhaps a little pricey for what you want, the Zoom H4 is going to give you, hands down, the best sound quality.

Cheaper alternatives include an Olympus voice recorder, or if you own an iPhone or iPod Touch with a mic, use that. Basically let the device record the lecture, then download it onto your Mac later.
