I am new to the forum so i hope my questions have not been answered before. I want to buy a Mac book or IMac for audio recording (an opinions on what might be better) but my friend record's with a PC based software not sure on the name. Can we transfer files between the two software lets say using an external hard drive?
Thanks

You can certainly transfer .wav audio files between systems, if not the actual
"software song file"
You can create a song and "bounce" stems of audio, say drums / bass / gtr and
vocal.
So long as your pal has the tempo and all the files are bounced from bar 1 beat 1 all is fine.

Thanks

I should have also mentioned i was new to computer recording.
So if i understand if i copy lets say drums, guitar, and a volcal as a wav file as long as my friend sets the same setting as i used in logic we should be able to access the files no problem.
Let me know if im missing something.
I guess i should have asked what should i use to transfer the files memory stick, copy the files to cd ??

Doesn't matter. Memory sticks are generally formatted FAT32 which is readable/writable on both systems, and CDs are burned ISO9000 which is equally universal.

Yes, so you have either programmed or recorded tracks in Logic.
Bounce each separate track to audio from bar 1 until the end of the song
( several ways to do that ) as .wav audio files.
Take them over to your friends place on stick/cd etc, drop them in a song
at the same tempo on audio tracks in his software .... bingo !

Thanks Guys

Thanks for the reply.
If I could I would like to ask your opinions since it seems fairly easy to transfer files is there a need for me to get a macbook or should I stay with my original idea of getting a 27" Imac?
Thanks Again

I would go with your imac idea, you will have more horse power and you
get a GREAT screen for seeing lots of Logic tracks and plugins :)
