Does anybody know of a free software that allows easy and effective subtitles onto movies? if not, which one could I buy?

    Thanks.

If you mean subtitles from a DVD then ffmpegX may be good. But if you mean adding your own subtitles, try iMovie. It's built in and free with you mac.
