• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Ok - I have a massive stash of old family video clips that are in .avi format.

I have Quicktime and RealPlayer installed on my computer and I can't play the clips on either one of them.

When I try to play it in Quicktime I get a message that says i need a plug in - and it redirects me to the Quicktime plug-in page.

However, I have no clue which plugin to use and I'm hesitant to download and use all of them to figuer out which one to go with because I don't want to mess it all up.

Quicktime version: 7.1.3
Link to Plug-in Page: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.html

Or = is there something else that someone would suggest, I'm up for anything.
A little help? Thanks.
